If you’re in your 40s or 50s and still training Jiu-Jitsu, do you still think about competing — whether it’s your first time or your tenth?
I’ve entered many tournaments over the years, but even with that experience, competing at this age feels completely different. The body is slower, the recovery is harder, and fear hits deeper than before.
And that’s exactly why this time, I decided to take on something that honestly scared me: I signed up for ADCC at age 50.
This video is the story of my one-month preparation — the weight cut, the conditioning, the fear, and what really happens when a regular 50-year-old steps into ADCC.
In this documentary, I share:
- how it feels to push your limits again at 50
- the hardest part of the weight cut (and the surprising part)
- what training five days a week did to my body
- the fear most people don’t talk about before competing
- the match, what went wrong, and what I learned afterward
- and why, even after losing, I still don’t want this to be the end
If you’re over 40 and thinking about competing — or returning to competition — I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
